We believe our people are the key to business success and, as such, are looking for a bright and experienced Programme Manager to be part of our tomorrow and join our Project Delivery team to manage projects. The role requires regular interaction with our Australian offices therefore early morning meetings are the norm.

This is hybrid working position, which requires a professional home working environment and strong broadband availability is essential.  The role will require travel to the GBST office and client sites, as required by individual project needs.

Job Description

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing the programme team in accordance with the detailed workstream plans, as per the roles and responsibilities defined therein.
  • Assessing critical risks and analysing costs and contingencies and ensure that they are accounted for in the programme plan or workstream status reports. 
  • Tracking and updating status of risks and mitigation strategies in programme status reports.
  • Reporting the programme status to the client, GBST senior management team, members of the programme team and other stakeholders as appropriate utilising GBST’s standard reporting templates.
  • Monitoring and controlling actual and forecast costs by holding regular reviews to ensure that they fit within the budget and plan.  Ensuring that any variances are proactively addressed and are reported to the key managers and the client via discussions and the programme status reports.
  • Ensuring that the quality and the status of the programme is complete as per GBST’s Quality Management System’s methodology and guidelines.  (For example, signed-off system designs, signed-off SOWs/change requests, signed off acceptance from the client; all outstanding issues clearly documented and agreed).

Desired Skills and Experience

Do you have what it takes? You’ll need:

  • Proven experience as a Programme Manager delivering large scale IT programmes.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure and hosting services.
  • Sound understanding of release management, including branching, versioning and patching.
  • Sound understanding and application of Programme Management competencies including scope, time, costs, quality, HR, communications, risk, procurement and integration.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of applications development methodologies and the software development lifecycle. Effective leadership, coordination, motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing complex development and implementation programmes involving software solutions.
  • Financial services background is advantageous.
